Clinicians Work Locum Tenens

Why Clinicians Work Locum Tenens?

Supplemental Income:

Many clinicians experience student loan debt after graduating, which can take years to pay back. Why not pay it off sooner? With locum tenens, clinicians can pay off student loans quicker, grow retirement funds, pay for much-needed vacations, or receive extra income around the holiday season. Many clinicians take the opportunity to work locums to supplement their full-time income.

Flexibility:

Whether you’re a clinician looking for full-time locums or to supplement your income, you’re in charge of picking your schedule. It also enables clinicians close to retirement to continue practicing medicine without obligating themselves to a full-time position. Locum tenens allows clinicians to choose the assignments and locations they’re interested in working.

Diversifying Experience:

Locum tenens allows clinicians to “try before they buy.” Deciding on a full-time career might feel overwhelming after graduating, so why settle? As a locum clinician, you’ll get to test out different opportunities, gain clinical experience, and work alongside staff members to better understand a facility’s culture before committing to a full-time position.

Preventing Burnout:

The number of clinicians experiencing burnout has increased substantially after the Covid-19 pandemic. Locum tenens allow clinicians to take control of their schedules, work in new clinical settings, and avoid administrative tasks required from full-time employment. Why feel burned out when you can regain your passion for medicine and give more focus to your patients?

Travel the Country:

Locum tenens opportunities allow clinicians to travel the country while making money. If your hobbies are hiking in the mountains, fishing, playing poker, watching Broadway, trying new cuisine, or whatever your hobby is, there’s an assignment nearby. Why pay for those experiences when those experiences can pay for you?

How we work?

How SHG Healthcare Works?

Speak with a Recruiter
Choose Your Position
Credentialing Begins
Start Your Assignment

Step #01

Speak with a Recruiter

After you complete our submission form, one of SHG’s dedicated medical recruiters will promptly reach out to schedule a phone call. During this conversation, we’ll discuss the types of opportunities you are interested in, your experience and your location preferences. Our recruiter will review available openings and share information on relevant opportunities. Following the call, you’ll receive a follow-up email summarizing the discussion and providing additional job details.

Step #02

Choose Your Position

Your recruiter will check in with you within 48 to 72 hours of the follow-up email. If you are interested in any opportunities discussed, we’ll begin the presentation process by coordinating with our client representative. At this stage, your recruiter will send you any necessary documents and requirements to move forward, along with instructions for completing our internal paperwork.

Step #03

Credentialing Begins

Presentations typically take between 24 to 72 hours for approval. During this period, we’ll start the internal credentialing process, which is streamlined through our SHG Provider Portal. This portal allows you to create a personal login, upload your certifications, and submit your CV, all of which we’ll use to pre-fill hospital applications and accelerate credentialing. The portal also provides helpful features such as notifications for expiring certifications, schedule management, timesheet submissions, and more. The SHG team will support you every step of the way.

Step #04

Start Your Assignment

While your credentialing is being finalized, your recruiter will gather information on your availability and travel preferences to ensure everything is set for your start date. Once credentialing is complete and privileges are granted, you’re all set to begin your locum assignment!

Credentialing Services

SHG's Credentialing Services

At SHG, we understand that credentialing can be dreadful. That’s why we implemented a system that guarantees success. With
the combination of our credentialing specialists, licensing agents, and SHG portal, we offer a sufficient way to receive privileges.

Portal Offer for credentialing

What SHG's Portal

Offer to Credentialing?

  • An easy and secure way to upload credentialing documents (certifications, immunization records, procedure logs, etc.)
  • Sixty-day reminders for expiring documentation.
  • Shareable features (When a clinician accepts a position with one of our clients, they can allow our client to view their credentials. That way, you don’t have to send your documentation twice.)
  • Weekly updates about clinician credentialing files & documents pending.
  • Our SHG internal application can be easily fillable with CV parsing features.

When internally credentialed with SHG, our clinicians can access their provider portal. We also follow strict guidelines by JCAHO
and NALTO to ensure we provide the best credentialing assistance to our clients and clinicians. At SHG, our motto is “Why work
harder when you can work smarter?”

Housing and travel Services

SHG Housing and

Travel Services

At SHG, we will take care of your travel. We are partnered with a travel agency with decades of experience. Our travel partners work to ensure that our clinicians experience the best services while traveling on their locum assignments.

We also know that some providers prefer to book travel and receive reimbursements. Our provider portal allows you to review our client reimbursement guidelines and easily submit receipts for reimbursement.

Please Note

Please note that each of our clients has different traveling guidelines. If you book travel, please read the specific guidelines before booking. If the cost of your travel is over the client’s limit, please inform your recruiter so they can work on receiving approval for reimbursement. Please do NOT book your trip before your recruiter receives approval from our client; we don’t want you to get stuck paying the difference.
