All Clinicians alike know the struggles that are involved in credentialing at a new facility. Whether these struggles stem from poor communication or a less-than-adequate team they are working with. Here are a few things to know about the process that may help you understand it a bit better.
1. Credentialing verifies providers are qualified
The process of credentialing is essential to ensure that providers are properly trained and are not hiding anything. As sad as it may sound, many people try to hide things from their past or fake their educational background.
Credentialing not only confirms your identity but also confirms that you are qualified and prepared to perform the necessary duties of your given assignment. Any quality client/facility requires this process to take place to ensure they are receiving qualified providers.
2. Internal credentialing comes before credentialing with a facility
SHG ensures that providers are properly vetted and checked before credentialing them with any facilities. This process usually takes around 30 days to complete, although this varies based on length of experience.
This process includes background checks, primary source verification, and reference checks. Once this process is complete and you are internally credentialed with SHG you will not need to undergo this process again for 24 months.
3. Additional documents may be requested
All specialty supporting documents such as an ATLS, will be requested on top of all the typical licenses and certifications. These documents are most easily received by SHG through our credentialing software, and uploaded securely, never compromising your secure information.
Keeping all of these documents easily accessible will help you make this process faster in the long run. Once SHG has these documents we will forward them to facilities on your behalf once you begin credentialing there.
4. Filling out the SHG application first
Many providers who do not have locum tenens experience ask why they must credential with SHG Healthcare and then credential with a facility. This is so that our experienced team of credentialing staff can pre-populate the hospital applications for you.
Our goal is to make credentialing as seamless as possible while allowing providers to do what they do best, practice medicine.
5. We have a team to assist with everything
We know how hard it can be to credential, license, and then have to worry about your travel just to work a locums assignment.
We’ve got you covered! Our team will work directly with you throughout the process from the first day of credentialing until you receive the check for the shifts you worked.
The service and personability you will receive from our team will make the entire process work it.
