Macerated Strawberries With Chocolate Sauce
1-1/2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons orange liqueur, optional (see note)
2 ounces dark chocolate chips or chunks
2 teaspoons sliced almonds
COMBINE strawberries, sugar and orange liqueur in a bowl. SET aside for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. PLACE chocolate in top of double boiler over simmering water. SET aside for 3 minutes or until chocolate melts. DON’T let any liquid touch chocolate or it will clump up. TO SERVE, spoon strawberries and juices into 2 oversized martini or margarita glasses. DRIZZLE chocolate over each serving. TOP each with 1 teaspoon almonds. SERVES 2.
Note: If desired, omit liqueur. It isn’t necessary to substitute another liquid.
